The HCA Boat Fishing Club meet on the last Wednesday of
every month at Grimsby Fish Dock Marina Bar, to discuss the sport of Sea
Angling. The club has many experienced boat handlers, including half of the
local RNLI team, who will talk and help the novice or new comer to the area,
giving valuable local knowledge and making sure the initial trips are
accompanying other local boats, giving safety in numbers. The club also
offers many other benefits as well as safety at sea, you get discounts from
Angling shops, bait and tackle experts giving demonstrations, , fishing matches
and above all a friend when you most need one, be it stuck on the beach with
the axles buried in sand or the Sea-ward side of Spurn with an engine that
dont go. The meetings are very informal and usually last from 8p.m.
until 8.45p.m.,then everyone sits around chatting about the next fishing trip.
The membership is now £15 per year which includes your NFSA
membership & insurance for fishing matches. The beer in the club is now
an extortionate £1.30 per pint, so with this and the info you can obtain,
everybody with an interest in boat fishing should be at the next meeting.
The club is still going very strong & under the leadership of Tim
Burgess has now become the largest boat angling club in Britian.

Events for the
Autumn/Winter
..
 |
The Club is organising a series of matches over the
Autumn/Winter, starting in October, divided into a Winter league and a number
of Opens. |
 |
All dates will be publicised well in advance
. |
 |
Members will be sent details in an information pack,
sometime in September. |
 |
Members are encouraged to study the dates and send
confirmation of whether they are going to fish back to the club
committee. |
 |
At the end of the season, there will be prizes for
biggest fish , biggest total weight etc. |
 |
Sometime in May, if there is enough interest, there
will be a prize evening with a dinner and dance. |
Winter League
 |
A series of matches fished for points, with an
optional £5 pool. |
 |
Seven matches, one a month throughout the
Autumn/Winter season, first match starting in October. |
 |
There will be a points system set up for the league,
as well a cash pay out for each match. |
 |
Matches will be fished on a Sunday, over high water,
mainly in daylight, duration of each match is 5 hours. |
 |
At the end of the series the best 5 point scores for
each angler will be added up and the winner will get a prize and a trophy,
there will also be a prize for the runner up. |
 |
For anglers who join the pool, the pool money for each
match will be given out thus: For each £5
..£3 to the winner
(on total weight), £1 to the runner up, 50p to the biggest fish and 50p
to club funds. |
 |
Therefore if 15 anglers put into the pool: The winner
gets £45, the runner up gets £15, biggest fish gets £7.50 and
the club also gets £7.50. |
 |
Points will be awarded as follows: 25 to the winner,
then 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 10 for weighing in and 6 for fishing. League table to
be put on the clubroom wall every meeting and will be sent to members who are
on the Internet. |
 |
If you want to take part in a particular match, please
try to contact a committee member or send back a ticket, before the actual
match day. |
 |
In the event of bad weather, beach angling will also
be allowed if competitors cannot get out on boats. |
Only a few rules:
 |
Only fish caught between the allocated times, to be
weighed in. |
 |
Maximum two rods with 3 hooks on each. |
 |
NFSA Minimum size limits to apply. |
 |
No wreck fishing. |
 |
No bait restrictions. |
 |
15 minute window at weigh in. |
 |
Anglers who want to take part in the pool, to contact
a committee member before the match starts (this could easily be carried out
over VHF channel 6) or to pay in advance. If you say you are fishing in the
pool, you will be expected to pay £5, whether you weigh in or not.
|
 |
In the event of a match being canceled, any money
collected will be bought forward to the next match i.e. If you pay for
October's match and it is canceled, you do not have to pay for November's.
However an individual can get his money back at the next club meeting if
necessary. |
 |
In the event of a match going ahead, but without any
fish being weighed in, all money collected will be bought forward to the next
match and put in the pool. |

of each match 5 hours. |
 |
As per the Winter league, members fishing to either
pay in advance or to notify a committee member before the match starts.
|
 |
Christmas match might be a special 'Fur and feather'
match. |
For both matches, if the committee is given enough
prior notice, we will try to help anglers to get boat places, this may well be
in the form of contact numbers of club members who have boat spaces
available. There will be a 'pre booking' form, to fill in for both
series of matches. Please send the forms back, especially if you need a boat
place. For all matches, Tony Hogg will make a decision on the match going
ahead the evening beforehand. If there is doubt, due to bad weather,
