On the boat scene the fishing has been better. The weather has improved and the boats are getting out. There are fish about in the Humber with Dogfish and Bass being taken. There have been some Smoothhounds into double figures and some good rays, Dogfish, bass and Smoothhounds caught off the Lincolnshire coast this week with good numbers of cod. Further up the Lincolnshire coast the Tope are showing as the mackerel arrive. Tope over 50lb have been caught with bigger fish lost! Off the Yorkshire coast, Easington has produced some good cod weights.
Tony Burmans weekly report on the features page gives more
information and makes interesting reading.
Onshore Report
On the Yorkshire Coast the bass have been showing this week with the surf being a bit rougher. They were also catching rays, dogfish and even a few smaller smooth hounds, although it has been patchy so you have to find the fish. The top bait was crab, but worm and squid also took account for a good number of fish. Mark at A&D Angling (01482 227171) and now A&D Hedon which
was Hedon Bait and Tackle (01482 891479) is always up to speed on the
information stakes. The south of the Humber the fishing has been better with some good Bass being caught around the Pier. Plenty of flatfish
are also being caught, with flatties now showing in greater numbers. Humberstone Creek has produced a few flatties but it has been slow. Killingholme also producing with some bass even making an appearance. On the Lincolnshire coast the
Smoothounds, bass and Dogfish have been showing in with anglers taking a few fish in a session when
conditions are right. Some double figure specimens have already been caught. More fish now being caught from the beach around Skegness, with eels and flatties and odd bass the main sport. The best bet for consistently good
bait is Mark at A & D Angling in Hull (01482 227171) who has an
excellent range of live sea bait, ring early in the week ( closed Wednesday and Sunday) to guarantee getting
some. He now owns A&D Hedon formerly Hedon Angling Centre(01482
891479) and still has an excellent range of sea bait including peeler crab and
mention you saw it here.
If your on the south side ring Ron at
Sparkes Bros Grimsby who also has some excellent bait in at the moment,
but ring him to book some, it's going fast! (01472 342613). . Seb at
Ultimate Angling is also stocking sea bait now. Give him a ring on 01472

Prospects
