How to prepare pellets.

This is the time of year when pond fishing starts to be considered when the temperatures will soon start to rise and the season comes to a close. Pellets are now a common stillwater bait, and vary in size and their make-up. Expander pellets are one option, here's how to prepare them.

Step 1.

Pellets can be bought already to use, but most anglers prepare their own, it's cheaper and can be prepared as they want it. Pellets can be bought at most descent tackle shops or animal feed suppliers. They come in a variety of sizes, and some slightly bigger for the hook often is an advantage. Most groundbait manufacturers plus a variety of other suppliers provide a vast range to choose from. These are the bits you'll need.

Step 2

Step 2.

Place your pellets in a shallow tray or bait tin. If you do more than you require, don't worry just freeze them.

Step 3.

Various flavours or colourings can be added to enhance the pellets. Everyone has their favourites, here are a few examples.

Step 3

Step 4

Step 4.

Add your enhancements in a little warm water, making sure you get an even covering.

Step 5.

Add the rest of the water required. It varies from brand to brand so read the instructions on the packet. Then leave for the specified time so the pellets can soak in the liquid.

Step 5

Step 6

Step 6.

When the time is up, place the pellets on a maggot riddle and expel any air with the flat of your hand.

Step 7.

Bag your pellets so you keep them moist, and any that aren't required can be frozen for next time.

Step 7

Remember, pellets can be a deadly way to fish. If you take your time and prepare them right, it can improve your chances to netmorefish and can often sort out the better fish. Preparation is a basic element to fishing that alot of anglers fail to do. Don't be one of them.
